Elvis Presley - The Potomac Purchase
Elvis originally intended to donate this vessel to the March of Dimes. It would have been especially appropriate since the Potomac had been the presidential yacht of Franklin D. Roosevelt, who suffered from polio.
But as the March of Dimes examined the cost to maintain the boat, they realized they couldn't afford it. So they declined the offer.
Then, Elvis attempts to give it to the 7th Coast Guard District Auxiliary in Miami, but no joy there either.
